How to choose which touring ski to get?

    Step 1: Pick the width
Choose the ski width based on the terrain you'll be skiing and how you plan to use it.

    • If you prioritize weight and uphill efficiency, go for the 1’s and 2’s. These are great options when the descent is predictable and won't be deeper than ankle height.
    • If you're heading into the backcountry to find powder, skiing bigger terrain, or unsure about the conditions, go for the 3’s or 4’s—depending on how much float you want.

    Step 2: Pick the series
Choose the series that best matches your skiing style.

    • If you're unsure which to pick or if it’s your first touring ski, we recommend the Agent. These award-winning skis feature traditional camber and rocker, making them predictable in all conditions.
    • If you want something lighter and more dynamic—allowing you to finish turns by slashing or washing out—the La Machine is your perfect tool.

    Step 3: Pick the length

    • Choose a length close to your height. In the backcountry, we tend to ski slower, so a shorter radius is preferable. Plus, shedding extra weight is key—so going slightly shorter can help.

Technical differences between Agent and La Machine

    Rocker and camber profile:

Agent Series: Features a unique combination of camber with tip and tail rocker, providing the ideal balance of carving ability and floatation. The elliptical sidecut and softer flex in the tips and tails make the ski forgiving yet very stable in rough terrain.

    Faction Touring Skis Agent Series

La Machine Series: Features extended tip and tail rocker, plus extended taper. Paired with subtle camber, this design creates an incredibly surfy ride. La Machine skis let you effortlessly pivot and smear turns through all types of mixed snow—whether it's deep powder or springtime corn.

    Carbon Construction:

    • Agent Series: Features a full-length carbon weave with carbon stringers woven together.
    • La Machine Series: Features two full-length layers of carbon.

In both the Agent and La Machine, carbon keeps the weight down while maintaining edge hold and stability.
